Miami is the interconnection point for Latin America the way Frankfurt and Amsterdam are for Europe. The subsea systems, the carrier presence and the peering all concentrate there, which is why a network expanding south usually already has a port in Miami before it has anything in Brazil.
The Brazilian end of that route is physical and specific. The Monet system lands at Fortaleza and Praia Grande on one side and at Boca Raton, in Florida, on the other. That is one of the main corridors for US-originated traffic into Brazil, and it is why capacity bought in Miami and capacity delivered in Fortaleza are two halves of the same design.
We contract the Brazilian side on your behalf, so the domestic circuit is ordered and delivered before your Brazilian entity exists, and we stay as the local counterpart afterwards.
